This article is designed to give you a brief run through of how to configure your podcast feed so that your metadata (e.g. your Title
, Description
, Categories
and more) is usable by Apple Podcasts, other podcast platforms and apps.
Select Podcast Settings from your dashboard to view your RSS Feed Settings
.
Logo, Title, Description
Ensure you have a Title
, Description
and Logo
for your podcast. These three fields are used across our site for your RSS Feed
, and anywhere else you are distributing to using your RSS Feed
.
Note: Your logo needs to be at least 1400x1400px to be accepted by Apple Podcasts and other distribution platforms.
Category
You need to select at least one category that relates to the content of your podcast. If only one category seems relevant that is fine.
Language code
Ensure you have the correct podcast language code. Your language code should be the primary language your podcast uses.
Note: If your language code is incorrect, you risk having your podcast removed from Apple Podcasts.
Author
Add the author or podcast owner's name to be credited with the content of your podcast.
Copyright
The author, name or legal owner of your podcast content.
Apple Claim Token
Paste your apple claim token here in order to verify ownership of your feed. You can find more information about claim tokens and how to make them here.
Verification Email
By default your email address is not published - we'll use rss@audioboom.com in the itunes:email
tag to keep your email private. There are two options to choose from.
Note: you can hide your email again at any time.
Publish for 24 hours
The recommended option to verify ownership.
Publish forever
Your email will always be exposed in your feed. Not recommended for privacy reasons.
Podcast type
You have two options, Episodic
and Serial
, here's a brief explanation:
Episodic
Specify episodic for stand-alone episodes or when you want your episodes presented and recommended last-to-first.
For new subscribers, Apple Podcasts adds the latest, most recent episode in their Library.
Serial
Specify serial when you want your episodes presented and recommended first-to-last. This option supports narratives, storytelling, thematic, and multiple seasons.
For new subscribers, Apple Podcasts adds the first episode to their Library, or the entire current season if using seasons.
Explicit Content
If this is left blank when your podcast contains explicit content, you risk having your podcast removed from Apple Podcasts.
